October 5, 2018 Parent Teacher Association Meeting Minutes
-Fall Festival planning is underway. It is scheduled for 10/20 12-5pm at 100 st & 1 st Ave. Rain or shine. Volunteers are needed. See sign up genius. Wristbands are now on sale for an early bird price of $20 for 1st one and $10 for 2nd one.
-Principal Naomi Smith explained what it means to be a Title I school. This was a Title 1 meeting. She stated that CPE 2 receive federal funds that support programs for students such as library, art, dance classes, projects that encourage parental engagement such as Hopes & Dreams, and staff professional development.
-Calendar of School wide Parent Association events will be
distributed to families.
-Camping trips for 4, 5 & 6 graders is being planned. In an effort to make it possible for all students, a raffle will be
held to raise money for scholarships. Gift items to be raffled are needed. Volunteers to promote/sell raffle are also needed.
-CPE 2’s community school partnershipwith Children’s Aid Society make it possible to offer an afterschool program, vision screening & free glasses, and cafeteria helpers. Parents expressed appreciation for the benefits of this partnership.
-Next meeting is: November 7th at 8:30 am at CPE 2 cafeteria.
