THE DEADLINE FOR FAMILIES TO ENTER HIGH SCHOOL APPLICATIONS IS FAST APPROACHING!
If you have a list of schools ready, enter them into MySchools TODAY. As the week goes on and more people submit applications, the system will slow down. Even if you only have a partial list, submit what you have. Applications can be added to and revised up until the deadline.
Even though the family portal closes on December 1st, the deadline for school staff to submit and adjust applications has been extended for students applying to schools that do not require additional materials.
This means that if you are NOT applying to schools that require essays, auditions, portfolios or other assessments. We will be able to help you submit or adjust applications beyond the December 1st Deadline.
Students applying to schools that require essays, auditions, portfolios or other assessments - the application listing those schools AND the additional materials MUST be uploaded by December 1st!! According to Enrollment, students who upload additional materials after the deadline, "may not be fully considered" for the program.
PLEASE CHECK THE ADMISSIONS METHOD OF THE SCHOOLS YOU ARE INTERESTED IN!!
If you apply for a school that requires additional materials, and you do not upload them, your student will not be considered.
Screened schools admit students according to what Group they are in. Groups are determined by the DOE based on end of year grades from 7th grade. If you want to apply to screened schools, please check your student's Group Number. The most popular screened schools fill their seats with students from Group 1. Some screened schools will have enough space to admit students from Group 2. Very few screened schools admit students from Group 3.
No student should only have screened schools on their application. EVERYONE should have Open Admission and Educational Option schools on their application.
If you need suggestions for schools check out our High School Suggestions List. The list is organized by Admissions Method and has schools that are recommended personally by teachers, staff and alumni.
Some high schools are participating in Diversity in Admissions. This means they set aside a certain number of seats for students who qualify for Free Lunch. If you believe your student is eligible:
